Puycelsi
Puycelsi’s earliest known historical document is a sale of the lordship in 1180 by the abbot of Aurillac to Raymond V, Count of Toulouse. The counts fortified the settlement and built a castle that no longer survives. Around 1850 the municipality bought castle remains and land to create an access road.

Editorial reading
Editorial interpretation: The distinction between surviving settlement and vanished castle offers a useful way to read Puycelsi. Following the later reuse of castle land for access connects medieval ownership with subsequent changes to the village’s physical setting.
